The MICHELIN Guide categorizes first by comfort classification (spoon and fork icon). These indicate an establishment's comfort level according to its décor, ambience, table settings, and quality of service.
The system ranges from 1 spoon and fork icon for a modest establishment to 5 spoon and fork icons for the most luxurious.
Then comes Michelin's time-honored star system, which honors restaurants for the quality of the cuisine, separately from their classification.
