Who reviews your restaurants?

Highly respected content partners; right now we carry all four MICHELIN North America 2009 restaurant guides and A Hedonist’s guide to…Eat New York. That’s already thousands of the most up-to-date, in-depth reviews available, plus lots of information about each restaurant. We have plenty of deals in the works to add amazing new content providers in the coming months, as well as to cover additional cities worldwide.

What if I live in another country—how do I pay in dollars?

PayPal will calculate the exchange rate at the moment you pay for Ubi Ubi. It will determine the equivalent amount to our subscription price in your currency. You don’t have to do anything!

Do you accept credit cards/cash/checks?

We do not accept cash, money orders, or personal checks. On the desktop, you can upgrade via PayPal which is mighty easy to use and it’s very secure. On the desktop, we do accept credit cards.

If you upgrade your membership on the mobile website, you, currently, will be required to have a PayPal account. But we’re working on eventually allowing you to upgrade with a credit card directly on the handset.

Can I try this out before I decide to subscribe?

There are many different ways to try Ubi Ubi. The best way is to Invite Friends by typing in their e-mail addresses. Every friend who registers will get you more free reviews; these additional free reviews are added to the 10 free reviews you get every month just for being a member.

You can also use our product freely forever, but you won’t be able to see the reviews themselves (aside from those you earned by inviting friends or registering). However, you’ll always be able to browse our free Editors’ Picks, which change weekly.

How do I get help or technical support?

Can I invite a friend?

Absolutely — and if your friend registers, you’ll get to see more reviews for free. Once you’ve registered, go Settings, then Account, and click on Invite Friends to invite up to five friends a month. This will result in free reviews as well as good karma.

What’s a promo code?

A promo code is a unique series of letters and numbers you can enter in the box on your Account page to get a specific complimentary period to use Ubi Ubi. You may have found an Ubi Ubi promo code in your MICHELIN Guide, on Ubi Ubi promotional materials, through a social networking site, or at a trade conference.

My promo code doesn’t work. Why not?

Either it expired or you used it before. If you believe we’re in error, contact us at help@ubiubi.mobi. Please include the promo code and where you saw it.

I want to end my subscription. What do I do? Is the unused portion of my subscription refundable?

We don’t make refunds, but you may cancel your subscription at any time. Simply e-mail cancel@ubiubi.mobi, and include your user name and phone number.

Where do I find out how much time is remaining on my Premium membership?

You can see how many more free reviews you have remaining — and your Premium account expiration date — on your Account page. To get there, go to the bottom of any page, click on Settings, then click on Account.

Is this thing secure?

Yes. We encrypt phone numbers and passwords as soon as you register, so no one can steal or change them. And all PayPal payments are completely secure: Your credit card number is never exposed, you’re safe from unauthorized charges, and you’re protected against fraud by state-of-the-art technology. In fact, no one but PayPal ever sees your financial information.

Can I change phone numbers/passwords/user names?

After you register, you may change everything but your user name. We’re working on being able to change that, too.

I don’t remember my password or user name.

On your desktop, go to the Sign In page. Click on Forgot Your Password or Forgot Your Username.

You can do the same on your mobile device. On the first page of the mobile website (after entering http://www.ubiubi.mobi on your phone’s browser), click on Sign In. Then, on the subsequent page, click on Forgot Your Password or Forgot Your Username.

I can’t see reviews anymore. What happened?

Your subscription has expired. Either your promo code period ended, you used up all your friend invitations, or your Premium paid subscription ended. You’ll need to Invite Friends or Upgrade to Premium. You can always see how many more free reviews you have remaining, and your Premium account expiration date, at your Account page (under Settings). If you believe we’re in error, contact us at help@ubiubi.mobi.

What does Ubi Ubi mean?

Not only does Ubi mean “where” in Latin — so Ubi Ubi means, roughly, “from where to where” — but it’s also a language spoken in Chad, a country in Africa. It also evokes “ubiquity,” which is what mobile phones throughout the world offer, and “overall,” which is what we want our ratings tend to be — comprehensive.
